Description

(This is a hands-on lab with limited capacity)

Organizations rarely struggle because of bad org charts; they struggle because the real work, value flows, and constraints are invisible. And that affects how organizations realize value.

This hands‑on session is for practitioners who want to connect strategy, business models, and team design. You will learn the essentials of the Business Model Canvas and collaboratively model how a fictitious company creates value. You will also get an introduction to the core ideas of Team Topologies, and using it to design teams and their interactions to deliver value based on the outputs of the Business Model Canvas.

This session is ideal for engineering managers, product leaders, agile coaches, architects, and anyone involved in organizational design who wants practical tools rather than abstract org‑chart debates. If you attend the hands-on, you will leave with a simple, yet powerful pattern: start from the business model, make value creation visible, and then intentionally design teams.

About João Rosa

João has experience enabling organizations to transition to fast-flow operating models. As CTO with scale-ups or as a consultant, he supported firms with different structures based on Team Topologies principles. He focused on bridging strategy to execution in areas such as alternative funding models or effective use of technology, where teams and organizations can thrive in a complex world. He is a Team Topologies Valued Practitioner (https://teamtopologies.com/all-ttvp/joao-rosa). He is also one of the authors of the book Software Architecture Metrics (https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/software-architecture-metrics/9781098112226/), the curator of the book Visual Collaboration Tools (https://leanpub.com/visualcollaborationtools/) and the host of the Software Crafts Podcast (https://www.softwarecraftspodcast.com/). You can find him travelling with his daughter and wife or lying on the beach reading a book when he is not on his duties. João is an amateur cook in his remaining time.

About Zsófia Herendi

Zsofi is a systems and solutions thinker with 20+ years of experience bridging the gap between developers and business teams. For the past 12 years she’s been living and breathing agile environments, turning complexity into clarity through collaboration. She’s a visual thinker and a bit of a flow-nerd — she usually likes to grab a marker to make sense of messy contexts. Over the years she’s designed and facilitated many strategy and discovery workshops: Business Model Canvas, Capability Mapping, Event Storming, and User Story Mapping, to name a few. As a long-time advocate of Domain-driven Design (DDD), she focuses on helping people / teams see the bigger picture, speak a common language, and align around what truly matters.
