Eric Evans is Returning to DDD Europe 2026

Some announcements write themselves. We are really happy to share that Eric Evans will be joining us at DDD Europe 2026, and this year marks a very special occasion. It is the tenth year that Eric has been part of our conference. That is ten years of conversations, challenges, and ideas shaped together with this community, and we could not be more proud of that.

The Man Who Started the Conversation

If you are reading this blog, you almost certainly know who Eric Evans is. His book, Domain-Driven Design: Tackling Complexity in the Heart of Software, published in 2003, introduced a vocabulary and a way of thinking about software design that has shaped how an entire generation of practitioners approaches their work. Ubiquitous language, bounded contexts, aggregates, context maps, these ideas have become part of the everyday fabric of how many of us think about building software systems.

But Eric is not someone who wrote a famous book and then stepped back to watch others apply it. He has continued to think, challenge, and refine these ideas alongside the community ever since. That ongoing engagement is a big part of what has made DDD Europe what it is.

A Decade Together

DDD Europe was founded on the belief that Domain-Driven Design deserved a dedicated space, a place where practitioners could go deep, share real experiences, and push the thinking forward together. Having Eric with us from the very beginning has meant that the conversation has always been grounded.

Over the past ten years, we have seen the DDD community grow considerably. The ideas from Eric’s book have spread into new industries, new roles, and new contexts. They have been combined with event sourcing, with microservices, with Team Topologies, with product thinking. They have been questioned, extended, and occasionally argued with. Through all of that, Eric has remained a thoughtful and generous presence, someone willing to engage seriously with where the field is going, not just where it has been.

Join Us

If you have never had the chance to hear Eric speak in person, this is the year to change that. We do not yet have the details of Eric's session to share, but we will publish them as soon as we can. And if you are a returning attendee who has seen him before, you will know that there is always something new to take away.

We hope to see you there. Check out our program for 2026.dddeurope.com
